Big Breakfast

What do you do when you have excess amount of mango and cherry sitting at home waiting to rot?
A. Leave it
B. Eat it all
C. Throw it away
D. Blend it in to a delicious milkshake in the morning because you have nothing better to do.

So, obviously I chose...D. So this morning, i woke up, seeded the cherry, skinned the mango, froze it and started to prepare for my big breakfast, for myself.

I started off by riding down to the bakery for some fresh bread and took some turkey, ham left over from Xmas out of the fridge. Next I went to make some sunnyside up eggs, which turned out beautiful today. Next I put all the fruit and some ice, added a bit of milk into the blender and off it go.

Wong Ka Wai

I am not a movie person, but I do enjoy watching movies by myself in my little room. The idea of asking someone, buying ticket and sitting in the cinema just puts me off to going to watch movies. Therefore I never get the chance to know what is on about when people around me starts talking about movies, cause I haven't seen it. When I do watch though, films by great minds like Stanley Kubrick, Wong Ka Wai, or films like 21gram, Trainspotting, Before Sunset/Sunrise, Requiem for a dream etc are my favourite. It requires a bit of thoughts and mind to understand, but not too deep like Tarkovsky.

To me, Wong Ka Wai captures the most beautiful era of Hong Kong that I wasn't fortunate to experience. "In the Name of Love" outlined the love and burden of married couple who were fond of each other but due to the social moral and pressure, they could only express it in their co-written novel. The actor Tony Leung and Maggie were no doubt at their highest performance, delivering their emotions only through the tiniest gestures through the eyes and fingers. But what hit me the most is the way the whole movie was transformed through the camera, clothes, lights and shades and the music. Through the eyes of Wong Ka Wai and his long time partner, cinematographer Christopher Doyle, the essence of the 60's Hong Kong were like moving art, printing images in your mind. And off course the choice of music, which I am not familiar with, only adds more taste and season the whole vibe.

My Favourite movie of Wong Ka Wai, however is the Chung King Express, which I shall post next time.

Fixed Gear

Ever since the start of this booming trend back in 2007 I have been eyeing for a fixie. Sadly there were practically no one in Brisbane aware of it especially among my friends. Time flies we are now at the very last few days of 2009 and I finally got myself a new bike, kinda like a X'mas present for myself. On average a Fixie costs about $800, easily, so when me and my friend saw the promotion from the brand Industrie...we bite our bullets and got ourselves one. The hardest part though, was to pick $199 worth of clothes from industrie...and swallowing the dignity to ride this bike. Yet we are still pretty happy about it.

2009 Wrap Up

2009 has been a disgusting year for me, family issues, personal, educational...all in all it wasn't a delightful year in my book. Yet in 30 years or so, i am pretty sure it would be one of those years that you look back and cherish. However, I did indeed step into adulthood and turned 21, I think by now, alot of my personality has been shaped and I can kinda discover what kind of person I am.
As a wrap up, I have decided to make a list of my Essentials item just like style.com and Mr. Hiroshi Fujiwara.

So here's my 15 Essential Items of 2009 (yes, it's not 10, but 15) Part 1:

1. Jeans

From the left to right is Dior Homme black 19cm, Dior Homme Indigo 19cm, Skull Jeans 5010XX and A.P.C new standard. I can't live without denim jeans, especially being a member of Super Future...we
don't wash them ok?

2. Plain TsWhat's better to wear under a suit jacket, leather jacket, jeans, shorts, windbreaker, pants, under a shirt, with a shirt than a plain white T (no pun haha....)?
example
3. Lo-Fi Sneakers

If I am allowed one pair of shoes for the rest of my life, it would be a pair of hi cut black and white Chuck Taylor, in leather with skinny waxed shoelaces, size 11 please. Apart from that, lo-fi shoes such as vans, more chucks, white canvas looking shoes are probably my love of my life in terms of shoes.

4. Kenneth Cole Black

The only fragrance I've bought for myself, ever. I've been wearing it since 2005 and I have not once thought about changing. Not because of the smell though, but for its unpopularity and the fact that it barely smell at all.
example
5. Watch

I have been wearing watch since 4 I believe, mainly due to my dad being a watch maniac and force me to wear it since. Now I personally only own 1 Tokyo Flash, but I have inherited an Omega Speedmaster, Rolex Submariner, Seiko Marine Watch and some vintage panda watch that I love. I am kinda spoilt...

6. Wallet

This Bottega Veneta wallet was given to me for Birthday from my mum and sis few years ago, nothing but class and quality is all I can say. It now resembles part of my ass as I believe it's been with me the most for the past few years.
example
7. Sun Glasses

Living in Brisbane, driving without sunnies is fast forwarding to either early death or asking for pain. This Superfuture is the largest wayfarer wannabe out in the market and I believe it's also the only one that would SIT on my face rather than STRETCHING out to hug my head. I absolutely love it.
 example
8. Gadgets

Last year I switched from the good ol PC to MAC and life has only been smoother and better (and off course cooler...). I got myself a Mac Book Pro I realise I spend way too much time facing the computer and internet than before, no good no good. This year I switched from Sony Ericsson P1i (I loved it to death) to Nokia E71 (Got it for free, it's great but too small for me) to what? THE ONE: Iphone 3Gs. As much as I hate to jump on bandwagons... this lil thing made my life happier and easier, alot easier...
example
9. Camera

I like taking photos, but most of the time I only use this LOMO L-CA+. I still prefer the touch and texture of films rather than DC. But since the rebirth of this blog... I believe My Canon will play a bit more role now.
example
10. Hair

Being an Asian, it takes atleast 10 min longer for us to get out of the house in the morning, especially when you wants to style it into a preppy, dandy looking gentleman. The discover of Uppercut is some of my highlight of 2009, due to many reason...but here are some of my usual drugs for my hair.
example
11. Guitar

I play the guitar everyday, despite being a pro or not. It's my closest lover since 14 years old. I make her sing, I make her scream, I make her wail at night with all her dreams...here's my Cole Clark Fat Lady and Jackson Soloist.
example
12. Books

It's the most important entertainment of my life, hands down. I read from manga to novels, to poetry to magazine to encyclopedia...I think it's the only form of eternal knowledge. But I hate lecture notes...
example
13. Music

I buy CDs. I buy CDs. I buy CDs. I buy from itunes. I collect CDs. I also download... I BUY CDS.
 example
14. Notepad

I bought myself a Moleskin just to have a pad to write down all my thoughts, lyrics, songs, poems, draw, be cool etc like most talented people or people who thinks they are an artist once they have one, like me. I must say it is pretty handy though.
 Example
15. Internet

I cannot live without the internet and I am sure most of us can't. Especially the invention of youtube and facebook. I LOVE youtube, but I hate Facebook. But I use it everyday...

Rebirth of Chocollege

I have decided to dedicate a portion of my day, most days to this blog. Why? I don't know, i just feel like to have my own little space to share my interests and personal life that I have no mean to share with people of my surroundings. Despite the fact that there mightn't be anyone who come across this blog ever, i still feel the need to make one. So this is not going to be like my last 3 (or 4) blog which i update half a year or so...

19 June 2009

where are you...?

Lately I've been thinking about you, alot. Since that day i dropped you off at the airport, i have wanted to see you and talk to you. You know, just us, at a cafe, sipping on coffee, dipping on ice cream, talk about all the stuff that I know only you would understand and be interested, then we wait till the sun goes down and we slowly walks off and thats our day. Doesn't that sound nice to you? I guess I was a bit...childish and naive when I let you off, but that would be one of those things that you remember for the rest of your life, atleast mine. Maybe you have forgotten my existence, but if one day, you bump across this blog, if ever possible, I just want you to know that I miss you J.

Twitter

Lately I sense an enormous trend in following people, or being followed by people who you like or dislike, know or totally random, nerds or hipsters and the amount of ex-facebook junkie who fall into the same old track again, but this time, it's Twitter. Although it has been an ongoing thing in some part of the Earth, in Brisbane it hasn't even sprung yet. And not surprising as we were almost 2 years behind in discovering Facebook compare to the State. But what i don't understand is...what is the poing of going backward in internet social community-blog-thingy? Reading this thread on the best forum, ever i.e SUPERFUTURE,

......twitter really shouldn't be getting any bigger than it is now, or will it?
